HE4 Home Economics: encourage – european – effective – education
Year: 01/09/2025 – 01/09/2027
Programme: Erasmus+ – Adult Education
Description of the project
HE4 was created to improve the quality of domestic and care work by offering flexible training, skills recognition and new employment opportunities for adults with fewer opportunities.
What is the HE4 project about?
HE4 aims to strengthen and give visibility to the Home Economics sector, which includes essential services such as household management, support with daily care, and assistance for children, older adults and families. Across Europe, many people work in this field with valuable experience but little formal recognition and limited opportunities for professional development.
The project addresses this challenge by creating a modern and accessible training model. Through a comparative analysis of Italy, France and Germany, HE4 identifies real needs, gaps and opportunities in the sector, with a special focus on vulnerable groups such as low-skilled workers, migrants, women with family responsibilities and adults returning to the labour market.
What the project does
Studies the training needs and required skills in the Home Economics sector.
Develops short and modular training units combining practical abilities, soft skills and digital competence.
Creates an online platform that enables flexible and accessible learning.
Introduces tools for the recognition of skills and for supporting professional growth.
Target groups
HE4 is designed for people working or wishing to work in domestic and care-related services, especially adults with limited access to traditional training, part-time workers, migrants and those needing new employment opportunities.
Expected impact
HE4 aims to improve the quality of domestic and care services, enhance employability and help raise the professional profile of a sector essential for the well-being of families and communities. Companies will benefit from better-prepared staff, while workers will gain tools to make their existing skills visible and valued.
Expected results
European comparative analysis of the sector and training needs.
Skills assessment tool for workers and employers.
Practical and flexible training modules, adaptable to different contexts.
Digital learning platform for autonomous and accessible training.
Mentoring and support model for companies.
Final publication with guidelines for adopting the model at national and European level.
